09-11.2009. 47th WBC CONVENTION IN KOREA

The WBC has held its 47th convention on JeJu Island in Korea from 1st till 7th November 2009. Jeju, Korea's largest island, is located at he Southwest of the Korean Peninsula and it's filled with an abundance of natural attractions. Jeju Island is a delightful blend of cultures and natural wonders.

The convention was attended by almost 600 delegates worldwide with country representatives from the Asian Boxing Council and the WBC Muaythai. Among those in attendance, were 39 promoters from 20 countries as well as 104 ring officials.

The people in charge of the various Committees made public their respective reports of their works throughout the year and all of them received a deserved big round of applause because of the fact that the work done was truly brilliant and positive.

WBC President Dr Jose Sulaiman said boxing in the Asian region had been one of the highlights for the WBC during 2009.

WBC Vice President General Kovid Bhakdibhumi who is also the President of WBC Asian Boxing Council and the Chairman of the WBC MUAYTHAI outlined the agenda for 2010 which included further expansion despite the recessed global economy.

The WBC Muaythai will stage world titles in France this month and a special event by promoter Dennis Warner in Las Vegas in December in honour of the King's Birthday.
Country representatives from the United Kingdom and China announced their plans for major MUAYTHAI events during 2010.

The WBC MUAYTHAI Super Female World Championship green belt would be awarded to female boxers who hold a WBC female world title and also win the WBC Female World Title.
